Beltane Consulting is founded by experienced Director of Nursing, Lucy Brown and leading Sustainability expert, Dr Emma Pascale Blakely.
Our purpose is to support clinicians to lead transformational change through innovative, evidence based and environmentally sustainable solutions. We aim to equip healthcare professionals with the communication and leadership skills to rapidly and radically change practice.



Lucy Brown
Lucy is an award winning and highly skilled registered paediatric nurse and Director of Nursing with exceptional communication, leadership and organisational skills. Lucy has extensive experience leading teams across all healthcare settings from acute, community, primary care, public and independent sectors, both in the UK and overseas. Lucy’s warm and unique approach enables her to build trust and rapport rapidly to progress projects efficiently and with maximum impact. Her contagious enthusiasm sets her apart and is an asset to any project.
Her facilitation skills bring energy and create innovative and inclusive environments for all individuals to flourish and develop. As an experienced MBTI Type 1 and 2 practitioner Lucy can support teams to communicate more effectively, manage conflict, resolve disputes and work collaboratively across all levels of the health system.
With an extensive network, Lucy can access experts in all fields to support and advise with any healthcare related project.
Lucy’s key skills include:
- Strategic development lead for the design and delivery of clinical training, professional development and clinical leadership programmes across multiple healthcare settings.
- Organisational lead for Sustainability and Innovation at the Florence Nightingale Foundation – co-designed and developed the award nominated Green Leadership programme.
- Co designed and delivered the global award winning ‘Leading Clinical Excellence’ programme at Bupa UK. The programme has trained over 6000 clinicians across three continents.
- Dorothy Clarke Award winner from the Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia for the most outstanding Master’s thesis on the ‘Prevention of Barotrauma in the intubated paediatric patient’. Through this achievement Lucy was invited to join the coveted ‘Golden Key Honour Society for Academic Excellence’ where only the top 15% of global academics are invited to join
- Previous member of Queensland Paediatric Retrieval Service coordinating care with the Royal Flying Doctors Service, Queensland Emergency and Disaster Management Response Teams.
- Experienced governance and quality assurance lead with a track record of good CQC inspections across primary care and acute settings.
- Experienced Safeguarding Lead, Resuscitation Lead and Infection Prevention Lead holding a Post Graduate certificate in Infection Prevention and Control including outbreak management particularly helpful when leading through the pandemic.

Dr Emma Pascale Blakey
Emma Pascale Blakey is passionate about involving nurses and midwives in sustainability and truly believes in the collective power and potential of our professions. Emma completed the Chief Sustainability Officer's Clinical Fellowship and has progressed into a role leading on sustainability within the Nursing Directorate at NHS England. She continues be linked clinically to Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, having worked in a variety of roles most recently the Endoscopy department, also supporting Quality Improvement projects and initiatives there. Emma completed her PhD in 2023.
Emma is part of a module leadership team helping to design and deliver a course for undergraduate nurses and midwives on the climate crisis and health, hosted by colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania.
Motivated to inspire and support others and underpinned by the values of compassionate and inclusive leadership, Emma provides coaching and mentoring to student nurses and early career nurses. Emma is actively committed to equality and diversity, loves languages having grown up in a bilingual family, and seeks out opportunities to meet and learn with colleagues across the globe.
